Building Permits

Important Notice: The Town of Tabiona partners with Duchesne County for building inspection services. All building permits are processed and issued directly by Duchesne County.  Please see the Duchesne County website for building permit application forms and the associated checklists.  Please refer to all applicable State of Utah building code as well as code provided by the Town of Tabiona during this process.
Before applying for a building permit with the county, you must first obtain Zone Clearance/Land Use Approval from the Tabiona Town Office to ensure your project complies with local town ordinances.

Step-by-Step Clearance Process

If you are planning to build, remodel, or change the use of your property, follow these steps to ensure compliance and avoid project delays:
Step 1: Verify Your Zoning
Check the official Tabiona Zoning Map or contact the town office to confirm your property's zone. Review the setback requirements, maximum height limits, and allowed uses for your specific district.
Step 2: Prepare Your Site Plan/Blueprints
Draw a detailed site plan/blueprints of your property/project. This plan/prints must include:
  • Property boundary lines and total dimensions.
  • Locations and dimensions of all existing and proposed structures.
  • Exact distances (setbacks) from the proposed structure to all property lines.
  • Locations of adjacent roads, driveways, and utility easements.
  • Blueprints of proposed new construction/remodel.
Step 3: Submit to the Tabiona Town Office
Complete the required material and submit it along with your site plan/blueprints to the town office.
Step 4: Town Review & Approval
Town staff will review your application to ensure it meets all local setbacks, height restrictions, and zoning rules. Once approved, you will receive a signed letter of approval to proceed from the Town of Tabiona.
Step 5: Apply for Your Duchesne County Building Permit
Take your signed approval letter, site plan/blueprints/other required materials, and county application forms to the Duchesne County Building Department. They will review structural codes, collect county fees, and issue your official Building Permit. Do not begin construction until the county permit is issued.

Land Use Applications

The Town of Tabiona offers the following land use applications.  More will be provided in the coming months to take care of all types of land use within the boundaries of the Town of Tabiona.  All applicable applications need to be filled out completely and all required supporting material will need to be provided at the time of submission.  This submission may also include any applicable fees related to the work needing to be completed.
